Russian Time
Russian time twin multi-timezone indication
Russia is one of the few countries in the world where there is a real need for watches with a time zone display. The reason for this is obvious: the country has the longest longitude from east to west, around 171 degrees, which is why it had to be divided into eleven time zones.
Chaykin’s Russian Time multi-timezone Indication works like a world time index and is unique in the watch industry, and not just because Russia is the only country to cover 11 of the world's 24 time zones. Konstantin Chaykin has invented a unique twin timezone display that makes it easy to determine the local time in one of Russia's eleven time zones both visually and using numerals.
Timezone fine mechanics
For the Russian Time watch, Konstantin Chaykin developed the hand-wound caliber K.01-7, in which he dispensed with the industry-standard construction of the time zone display with a discrete switching system, in which the display is usually configured to advance or retard at one-hour intervals. Instead, he opted for a press fit, which is traditionally used, for example, in the gear train that turns the hands of the watch. This solution avoids the use of buttons. To set the time on the Russian Time watch, the crown must be pulled out and turned clockwise so that all the time indicators can move synchronously. If the crown is turned counterclockwise, only the time zone display is set.
Desing
The Russian Time watch has a monochrome design with a stainless-steel case and a dial in black and white. In the upper part of the dial there is a standard 24-hour time zone scale that runs along the names of Russian cities, while in the lower part a similar scale moves slowly under a schematic but relatively detailed map of the country that spans eleven time zones. At the same time, the daytime hours from 07:00 to 18:00 are displayed on the scale with a silvered background and the nighttime hours from 19:00 to 06:00 on a black background. The exhibition caseback the case provides a view of the movement.

Movement
The caliber K.01-7 of the Russian Time watch was developed by Konstantin Chaykin to accommodate the Russian Time twin multi-timezone display, and made entirely at the Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture. The movement is based on a three-quarter plate scheme.
The caliber is made to the standards of haute horlogerie, using traditional techniques in the finishing of its components: Côtes de Genève, perlage; fine longitudinal and circular grinding; hand-polished chamfers; engravings; polished screw, pin and jewel recesses; ball polishing of the pivots; and rhodium plating.
