Between Time and Fine Art: Konstantin Chaykin Presents “Dormouse” at the Angels Club Foundation Charity Auction
25 March 2026
Konstantin Chaykin took part in the charity auction organized by the Angels Club Foundation. Each year, the foundation raises funds to support cancer treatment programs, as well as to finance medical innovation research, the purchase of advanced medical equipment, and high-tech prosthetics.
The painting Dormouse was selected especially for this significant occasion. The work transforms a literary character from Alice in Wonderland into a horological archetype. Here, the language of mechanics becomes painting, and elements of watchmaking turn into symbols of human consciousness, time, and the philosophy of the universe. The heroine serves as a metaphor for the human soul, embodying the driving force of the artist’s imaginative world. As the canvas preserves the living thought of its creator the very moment of inspiration cannot be reproduced.
Konstantin Chaykin is the creator of the unprecedented artistic genre known as Horological Art. His works are constructed according to the principles of drafting and engineering. Each piece is executed with ruler and compass, grounded in mechanical precision and an engineering mindset. The composition and proportions of his paintings derive from the logic of watch mechanisms and reflect more than twenty years of Chaykin’s experience in creating some of the most remarkable timepieces in contemporary horology
